15 Easy Ways To Get Clear Skin

Let’s face it (pun intended); we’d all kill for clear skin and would much rather never have another pimple again!  Our skin is the first thing we see but this isn’t just about vanity.  Our daily life, environmental factors, and stress all affect the quality of our skin making glowing, clear skin an excellent indicator of our overall health too.  The skin also plays a large role in protecting us from harmful radiation and bacteria and helps us maintain our temperature, electrolyte balance, water levels, and so it's really important to pay attention to it and look after it.

Here are a few skincare tips from our experts that you should follow to ensure that you sport healthy, youthful and clear skin wherever you go.

15 easy tips for clear skin

  1. Wear Sunscreen:
While a little bit of sunlight early in the morning helps your body maintain it's vitamin D stores, overexposure to UV rays from the sun can damage your skin almost instantly and can also lead to increased acne breakouts. It would be more than a little impractical were we to be expected to stay at home (even the Covid outbreak only had a limited amount of success with that) but there is a simpler solution.  Wear sunscreen. This protects you and is almost a constant prerequisite for a glowing complexion and clear skin. Try to ensure that you use sunscreens that have an SPF 30 reading or more.

  2. Load Up On Vitamin C

Various studies have shown that consuming citrus food items like lemons, oranges, and foods rich in vitamin C such as bell peppers, and broccoli helps give us healthy and clear skin. Vitamin C destroys free radicals, and fights oxidative damage, thus giving us glowing, bright, and supple skin.

  3. Do Not Pop Pimples

It's a guilty pleasure, we know, but if you care about your skin at all, this is definitely a thing you want to avoid.  As tempting as it may seem, popping your pimples or blackheads does more harm than good to your skin. The science behind it is very basic: pimples are your skin's way of isolating harmful microorganisms.  When you burst a pimple, these bacteria are now free to spread to other cells on your skin and can also be pushed further once again into the same pore. This can bring about bigger, more agonizing pimples and the making of new skin inflammation sores that spread across a larger area on your skin. Painful as they are, a poped pimple almost always leaves a scar behind.
If you're particularly prone to pimples though, start including food items or supplements in our diet that are rich in zinc and selenium. Zinc's anti-inflammatory properties
help in reducing inflammation and acne. Zinc & Selenium gummies like these that are fortified with antioxidants like vitamins A,C and E provide a potent combination and are also extremely effective at to getting rid of acne-causing bacteria.

  4. Go Nuts On Badaam
A lot of dermatologists suggest that their patients keep a handful of nuts, especially almonds, handy. Nuts help in cell reinforcement and are loaded with vitamin E, which protects your skin from environmental damage and kills free radicals.

  5. Clean Your Screen
Did you know that there is actually a legitimate skin condition called mobile phone dermatitis, which is very common in young people?  According to several studies, our smartphone screens host more germs than the average toilet seat! Think about what that means every time you hold your phone up to your ear to talk to someone. Eyuckh!  Digital addictions are real and our relationship with our smartphones is no exception.  Use a handsfree set / a pair of earphones or put your phone on speaker mode when you are on a call and clean your screen as often as possible.

  6. Switch To Tea
Tea has been used for centuries to alleviate skin conditions. The caffeine found in tea reduces puffiness, dark circles, and razor burn from shaving. Black tea offers comfort and relief from the pain and redness after shaving.

  7. Exercise
Working out increases the blood flow, which also increases the oxygen and endorphin level in our body, all of which are essential for the health of our skin cells and help keep the free radicals and harmful toxins out of our body. Avoid wearing makeup while working out so you keep your pores clear and be sure to drink loads of water to compensate for the amount you sweat during your workout.  Want clear skin that glows all the time? Exercise; even if it is just for 20 minutes in the day and you skin will look young, healthy, and attractive in no time.

  8. Stay Hydrated And Avoid Prolonged Use Of Makeup
Probably one of the oldest and most often overlooked tricks in the book.  Majority of our body is made up of water so it should come as no surprise that hydration is central to good health.  Our skin is no exception.  Drinking lots of water flushes toxins out of our bodies and keeps our skin clear and radiant.

  9. Use A Good Moisturiser
A good moisturiser can go a long way in keeping your skin clear.  No matter whether you are indoors or outdoors or what your skin type is, a moisturizer is a must. Find a moisturizer that works with your skin type and apply it constantly and consistently. This will keep your skin feeling youthful, supple, reduce wrinkles, and help get clear and glowing skin.

  10.  Find makeup that suits your skin and take it off before bed
You've heard this your friend, beautician, and your favorite beauty influencer too. Time to start listening if you haven't already.  One of the many ways in which we can keep our skin healthy is by using products that are based on our skin type and by not keeping them on for unnecessarily long durations of time. For instance, if you have sensitive skin or acne-prone skin, then you need to stay away from makeup products that contain chemicals and compounds that could irritate your skin. Repeated exposure to such products could aggravate the problem.

Regardless of the type of makeup you use though, it is extremely important to take your makeup off as soon as you're done with it, and definitely before bed at any rate.  Cosmetics draw in free radicals and allows them to sit on your face when you have your makeup on. Leaving the makeup on while going to sleep is one of the biggest enemies of your clear skin routine

  11. Avoid over-washing and hot water
It is natural to assume that washing your face frequently and obsessively will keep if clear of infections and the oiliness that is known to cause pimples.  It is even advised to keep your skin clean with a soap-free, gentle cleanser.  However, both excessive washing and the use of hot water can strip your skin of its moisture, drying it out which is likely to aggravate the condition. Contrary to popular perception, hot water does more harm than good.  Instead of opening up the pores and makes them simpler to clean (as we were initially led to believe), the truth is that it simply makes the skin swell, which gives us an appearance of open pores.

  12.  Peeling and Exfoliation
Your skin is the first line of defence in your body and can recover faster than any other organ. Each skin cell in your body has a life expectancy of 27 days. Exfoliating or peeling helps eliminate these dead skin cells and keeps them from clogging the pores on the outer layer of the skin. Regular exfoliating and facials help keep your skin clear

  13. Cut out dairy
Some reports that suggest that consumption of dairy products could lead to skin inflammation. According to studies, Vitamin B5 found in milk could lead to a breakout of acne. Try and limit your consumption of milk products and see if it works to give you glowing, acne-  clear skin.

  14. Reduce stress
Stress can intensify skin inflammation and other skin issues, so we need to make sure we keep a tab on our feelings, like anxiety, stress, and more. Practicing yoga routinely and taking time to reflect and meditate are some of how we can manage stress. So, if we want to break the endless loop of skin inflammation and acne, and get clear skin  that is pimple free, we need to rein in our stress and let it go thereafter.

  15. Beauty Sleep is Must
The more rested we are, the better our body’s response to recover and feel rejuvenated. Lack of sleep will cause swelling, patchiness and puffiness, especially on the face.  Try and get eight hours of good rest every night.
It is also important to keep the pillow case you sleep on clean and free of bacteria (something that is just as common as the point we made on cell phones above).  Try using a smooth or silky pillowcase that is gentle on your skin and can help you making an impression on people while leaving your skin radiant and clear.

We hope that all the tips that we have mentioned above can help you get the clean and clear skin you have always wanted. Remember, you are what you eat and that a little patience and consistency combined with teh right nutrition can go a long way for skincare.
